Work Sequence - Proper steps for a successful connection (BMW E & F series)

 

Work sequence for BMW E series w/K+DCAN Cable:
- Windows firewall MUST be OFF. No Anti-Virus software must be present, disabling won't help. UAC set to low.

- Connect the K+DCAN cable to the laptop.
- Connect the cable to the OBD port.
- Make sure the driver and the COM port setting is set like below
      -Set COM to Port 9
      -Set Latency 1
- Run the engine or make sure the battery is 13.8V or less than 15V. 
- For ISTAD > First option under VCI > EDIABAS should be selected (under interface type).
- For ISTAP > Start ISTAP > Run the K+DCAN emulator > click on BMW car icon.
- Laptop battery should be above %70 and the car battery should be between 13.8V and 15V (or let the engine running).
- If you couldn’t connect, try both switch positions, all the way to the left or to the right (there are only two positions on that switch).

 Work sequence for BMW F series w/ENET Cable:
- Windows firewall MUST be OFF. No Anti-Virus software must be present, disabling won't help. UAC set to low.

- Connect the ENET cable to the laptop.
- Connect the cable to then OBD port.
- Set you NIC IP to 169.254.1.1 mask 255.255.0.0 and leave everything else blank, or leave it to DHCP.
- Run the engine or make sure the battery is 13.8V or less than 15V.
- For ISTAD > third option under VCI > ENET local area network should be selected (under interface type).
- For ISTAP > Start ISTAP > Run the ENET emulator > click on BMW car icon.
- Laptop battery should be above %70 and the car battery should be between 13.8V and 15V. (or let the engine running).
